Hair Health and Aftercare Essentials

Healthy hair begins with good habits. To keep your locks strong, shiny and nourished between appointments, here are some essential recommendations I always stand by.

1. Sulphate Free Shampoo and Conditioner
Choose a sulphate free shampoo and conditioner to protect both your hair and your extensions from dryness or fading. They help maintain the natural oil balance and keep your colour looking vibrant for longer. The Moroccanoil range is a favourite of mine — gentle, hydrating and perfect for everyday use.

2. Conditioning Mask
A deep conditioning mask is a must for maintaining softness and elasticity. Used weekly, it replenishes moisture and restores shine, leaving your hair silky and manageable.

3. Heat Protectant
Before using any styling tools, apply a heat protectant to safeguard your hair from heat damage. The GHD Bodyguard spray is lightweight, easy to use and keeps your hair smooth and healthy even after heat styling.

4. Oils and Creams
Finishing products make a real difference. For added moisture and frizz control, the Bounty Balm by Schwarzkopf is brilliant for taming flyaways and hydrating dry ends.

If you prefer oils, the Moroccanoil Treatment is my go to. Its balanced blend of protein and moisture, in a vegan friendly formula, leaves your hair soft, glossy and full of life.

Hair Extension Aftercare

Keeping your extensions looking flawless for longer is easier than you might think. With the right routine, your extensions stay soft, healthy and tangle free.

Brushing: Use a soft bristle or extension brush daily, starting at the tips and working gently up to the roots.

Washing: Use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner, and avoid applying conditioner directly to the bonds. Wash two to three times per week to maintain shine and overall hair health.

Styling: Always use a heat protectant before heat styling. Be gentle around the bonds and avoid applying heavy oils close to attachment points.

Sleeping: Tie your hair in a loose braid or ponytail, and sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce tangling and minimise breakage.

With consistent care, your extensions will stay beautiful, your natural hair will stay healthy and you’ll enjoy long lasting, damage free length and volume every day.
